It's a code, butstrap boiler, and may be useable but would need an inspection. Because it's code it makes repair possible if needed. Include all the information stamped on it in the photo, it will help identify what it fits and when it was built.

I am down here for a day or two, gotta figure out some rail weight for warren. anyone know how to identify rail weight? I will be looking for markings on the rail tomorrow.

The rail will have writing on it that will include the manufacturer (and possibly location), date and weight in pounds per yard. Common weights for standard gauge track include 60, 80, 85, 90, 100, 115, 132 and 136, but narrow gauge stuff was often lighter, and could be as light as 30 pounds.

The rail's height will vary with its weight, others on here can give better advice as to the dimensions of each size. Based on your photos I would guess that it is around 60 lb.

This 136 lb example shows how the writing would appear when new, but if this stuff is old and rusted I would bring a wire brush to clean up the area if you spot a bit of writing.

I would say, maybe donate the stuff to a local museum. They'll keep everything in a safe place even when we may not be able to.

Ok I'll take a wire brush out today and see what I can find. it was raining yesterday.

Scrap is worth about $0.05 per pound right now. That rail is worth more than that and will sell if you really want it to sell. It would be a crime to just let that stuff sell with the land and go to scrap.

I have seen situations happen where people want big money for stuff then finally lets it go for practically nothing to the scrapper, while people offering reasonable amounts for the stuff are turned away.

Rick, you should get some for the YSH extension... As for the locos and such, can I get another pic?

well I'm 9hrs away again so it will be hard to get any more pics. Thats the biggest problem, I can only take so much time to go down, and then nobody wants to come look at stuff. Every time I go back down all the brush I've cleared has grown back up. I need to get this cleared and property sold, so I can get my mom moved away from a stupid uncle that keeps causing trouble.
Not asking crazy prices, so far I've been asking for offers, and nobody has yet.
Most of the rail is 60-70 lb. theres some smaller track but not alot.

Sorry. About how big would you say the locomotives are? I have a few offers in mind.
