I was Googling spaghetti restaurant streetcar photos in an unsuccessful effort to find information on the ex-Magee Reading Birney and came across a few other streetcars in Spaghetti Warehouses:

Dayton, OH - unidentified car (doesn't look like a Dallas 700, possibly a double-truck Birney?) - http://www.trainweb.org/Tomsrailtravels/BBC%20110%20charter%20part%201.htm

Memphis, TN - likely a Dallas 700 - https://thisitalianfamily.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/an-evening-in-downtown-memphis/

Ybor City, FL - likely another Dallas 700 - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g34678-d388819-Reviews-Spaghetti_Warehouse-Tampa_Florida.html

In the first link, there were two images of a interurban car body. Any idea on what it is? And no, I have not checked the database yet. Just didn't want to forget about it.

Here is a related thread. Does anyone know where the trolley in the Louisville Old Spaghetti Factory came from?

If you mean this one:

...then it didn't really come from anywhere, it is undoubtedly a replica. A lot of OSF and SW restaurants have replica streetcars rather than rebuilt original car bodies.

Reviving this thread to see if anyone may know of a Spaghetti Factory/Warehouse that could containing the missing Reading Transit #510, a single-truck Birney body. Sources believe the car body went from the closed Magee Museum to Detroit for the Citizens Railway in the early 1970s, but was never restored. From there the body is rumored to have been placed into restaurant service.

Both the Seattle and Tacoma locations are closing/moving. The fate of the Seattle trolley, and in fact of the entire Seattle location, is unclear at the moment.

The Tacoma location is moving to a nearby building. They've just announced they're moving the streetcar this weekend 10/3-10/4/15.

Quote:
The trolley has been a fixture of the restaurant since it opened at 1735 Jefferson Ave. in 1971. The restaurant announced at the end of July that it would move to 1250 Pacific Ave. The University of Washington Tacoma owns the Jefferson Avenue building, and the school is planning a major renovation for more classroom space among other things.

Portland-based OSF International, the restaurant’s owner, has said the new location will open sometime between the end of the year and the first quarter of 2016.

On Friday, after the restaurant closes, workers will begin preparing the trolley for its move, OSF spokesman Ryan Durrett said. On Saturday, work will begin in the early morning to remove the trolley. The front windows of the restaurant will have to be removed, Durrett said. The goal is to have the trolley out of the Jefferson Avenue space by 11 a.m.

Once the trolley is out, it will be stored overnight on the UWT campus. On Sunday, around 8 a.m., workers will begin moving it to its new location on Pacific Avenue.

People are welcome to come watch either day, Durrett said.

The Seattle property was bought in July by a developing company which works on historic properties, including the Sears warehouse which is now Starbucks Headquarters. I suspect more than the actual brick building in which the restaurant resides, what made the property so attractive is the undeveloped parking lot on the south side of the building. And as local residents know quite well, open parking lots in the city are becoming harder and harder to find. I remember when the entire hillside behind the restaurant was nothing but parking lots! Now it's all apartment/condo highrises and the (modern art) sculpture park. I did search for any recent news items that specifically stated the restaurant is closing, but didn't find anything regarding the restaurant that has been posted since the property was sold. Is there something I've missed?

A month or two ago, I inquired to the Old Spaghetti Factory's parent company on the possibility of acquiring one or both of the streetcars (Seattle and Tacoma) in case they were to be disposed of. After a few calls, I was told that both cars would continue to be used and enjoyed by the restaurant customers. The Tacoma car will be moving to the new location this weekend, and the Seattle car will remain where it is, as there are no plans to close that location. The company, however, was glad to hear that there was interest in preserving the cars should they have needed to deaccession them.

FYI, I had an opportunity to look through some Ed Miller photos, including one of the Reading Birney at Magee. “Lost in flood” was hand written on the photo. So I am guessing that some equipment from the car went to Detroit but the body of the car was most likely destroyed by the flood waters.

Since this topic was brought back up...

Does anyone know the status of the ex-Dallas Railway & Terminal 700 that was in the West End location in Dallas? Everything in the building went up for auction, and the streetcar sold for $3,125, but the "radio" has been pretty quiet since then.

folks,
I have not heard mention of the Old Spaghetti Restaurant near Jack London Square at Oakland California. I believe that the car that served as the center piece of the place was a replica.

Also no mention has been made of Paul Class, who was responsible for the early years of the restaurant projects. As far as I know, he was still alive as recently as last year. But I do not know how to get in touch with him. Does anyone?
