Dear Ted & Group,

There are two types of milk tank cars at IRM: a Borden's "Butter Dish" milk tank car, and 2 GPEX milk tank cars (one of which has been restored). The article listed below has more information about these (and other types of milk tank cars).

The tanks discovered about 16 years ago fall into the category of a swap-body that could be used on a specially equipped flatcar or trailer.

Ironically this incident with a Borden truck in WV happened on the same day as the bankruptcy filing.

it looks like Eastern Milk Producers Co-Op was merged (1969) into Dairylea Cooperative Inc. which was headquartered in the same East Syracuse building, Dairylea then merged with Dairy Farmers of America moved operations to the Midwest
Whoever owns the old processing plant would know more about the "ownership" of the cars
