Absolutely awesome news to share this evening. I had the opportunity to talk with Williamson Mayor (and my good friend) Charlie Hatfield after the City Council meeting and thanks to his efforts & communications with Norfolk Southern, the historic Williamson Round House has been removed from the demolition list of structures it was previously on. Mayor Hatfield spent a significant amount of time speaking with folks in Atlanta in regards to how important this place is to us and Im ecstatic with this news. Perhaps our next step will be to look into getting it on the National Historic Registry but this is a big “WIN” as so many doubted this would occur. Definitely the first time in my lifetime a historic structure was saved from destruction....thank you Mayor & NS!
