Folks,
It is interesting to read that another modern locomotive built for the New York Central still exists in a park.
Up to now, I had only heard about the NYC #3001 (ALCO-Schenectady, 1940) at the National New York Central Museum in Indiana.

If memory serves, she too had been hiding under another number, Texas & New Orleans, in a park.

You are forgetting about New York Central 4-8-2 #2933 located at the Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood, Missouri.

Hi all
Here are two more NYC locomotives that are in the backwoods of Maine.
They once belonged to the Eagle Lake & West Branch RR.
The information on the locomotives is off the internet.

Yes, I know about those Eagle Lake survivors, they are not preserved just survivors. I think though, that some of the brush and trees near them has been cut down to protect them from a possible forest fire.

And the Museum of Transport at Kirkwood, near St Louis has 30 steam locos, the largest number at any American museum, IRM is second with 29.
