“Listen to and follow the advice of the legitimate scientists like Dr. Anthony Fauci and not the politicos, especially not POTUS.”

“Optimism is usually BS”

Optimism isn’t fact, fiction, or bs, it’s just optimism.

When you think good thoughts good things happen. I think “Pray for the best“, is a great example of optimism.

When it’s time for action I agree that following advice from “legitimate” sources and using information “Proven otherwise through experience” is the correct formula. My all time favorite expression, that I once saw on RYPN is, “Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement”.

In the mean time, I’m going to STAY optimistic.

Maine's WW&F has announced it will be closed to the general public until their Annual Picnic on 8/8/2020. It is hoped that targeted volunteer work sessions can begin long before then.

I’ll save you all some time.

Everything is closed. All of it.
Nobody knows when it will re-open.
Nobody knows when states will grant permission for gatherings.
Nobody knows when people will be able to return to work.
Even when they do, people are going to be broke and scared of crowds.

It’s a really shitty year to be in the tourist biz.

OTOH, I paid a (virtual) visit to the Strasburg RR today and the team tracks looked to be packed full. They were switching cars and it looked busy.

Thanks,

Well, since you asked. That’s my latest quarantine project, updating my railroad links page. I’ve just finished a major update to the railroad webcam page. I now have over 140 railroad webcams in the US listed, including several tourist railroads and museums.

The free Strasburg cam is here:

There is also one at Paradise / Lehman Place

Thanks, Bob.

Very interesting and for an old, retired railroader fun to watch someone else, work. Strasburg certainly is a great little railroad and very wise in pursuing freight work along with shop contracting. Owning your own track and having other revenue sources is the way to go.
