Hello All

Can't remember just how, but I ran across the following page with pictures from a recent open house at the Delaware Water Gap stations. Thought some may be interested....

Oh And...

Acording to the schedule I have, Steamtown's Carbondale trips (running on saturdays in Aug) are to operate with the 2317 steam engine. Its been a while since ANY Steam engine went to Carbondale, and the last time one of the "big" engines went there was 10 years ago. Don't look for any speed record setting as trains will run at 10 MPH, should make for an easy chase if anyone is planning on that. Wish I could be here, but I'll be out of town on business.

I staffed the Steamtown "Queen City Extra," which took the train to Carbondale for runaround at Tredagar, and arrived on time at the new (1995)Olyphant station. It was a terrific trip, on a beautiful day. It would have been perfect if the trip were at least 10 miles faster or 10 degrees cooler (how about 78 degrees?) 2317 was in perfect sunlight for the southbound run and really barked on the replaced Strawberry Hill line. Some spots on the line need cleaning, and tree clearing, but travelling along the line through all the towns was a nice treat. Ken Ganz's photos should be on the website early next week (Aug 4-5)
Ticket sales were not terrific, but we were half full. The next 2 Saturday's trip will run to Carbondale station, and Aug 23 will make a return to Olyphant. Plan to be aboard. Aug 17 will return to Tobyhanna, and Aug will initiate service to Delaware Water Gap. See you on the train.
