Seen on the Ahead of the Torch website this morning, the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley restoration shop has finished the replication of another of its ex-U.S. Navy 40' steel boxcars. And this ones a real beauty! Pittsburgh & West Virginia #1348 in black paint with hand-done white lettering. Fortunately the P&WV Technical & Historical Interest Group had an in-service photo of P&WV 1348 which the shop was able to use for the lettering. A fantastic job!

Gotta have pix, of course.

From The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Restorations Department, which is the originating site for what's at Ahead of the Torch, with caption information as available:

Quote:
We are excited to debut our second restored 40’ boxcar! For this repaint we chose to honor the Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad. Centered in Pittsburgh, PA and Wheeling, WV the P&WV served the area’s prolific steel industry. We would like to thank the P&WV Technical and Historical interest Group and Big E Productions’s Eric Schlentner for providing all lettering artwork and documentation for this project.

We would also like to recognize local artisan Eric Werner, who masterfully painted all lettering by hand and without stencils, DGVR’s Billy Cassell and the entire DGVR track crew who scraped, prepped and painted the car.

Ahhhh, you guys beat me to it. Here’s to hoping more cars come out of the D&GV shop saluting WV railroads. It was a fun project to be involved with albeit from a remote location.

I am seeing the word "Image" and not a pictorial image.

Is this on my end or is something wrong with the posting?
