Apparently this fine old beast has been drawn out of the back woods by New Hope & Ivyland, and is in the process of being towed to a new dead line. It served as the club car "Locust Valley" at one time, and renamed "Syosset" and reassigned to evening trains on the Port Jefferson branch, where the station of the same name is located.

Some of you have your ears to the ground around NH&I. Can the plan for disposal of this car be written? Kind of sad to see a heavyweight go to junk at this date, though not unexpected.

From the LIRR fans facebook page:

"Built by Pullman in 1914, lot 4329, plan 2417A, as parlor-buffet ANDRICO. Acquired by New York Central in September 1942 and converted to coach-buffet at their Beech Grove, Indiana shop. Acquired by LIRR circa late 1950s; redesignatd LIRR 7500. Converted to club car LOCUST VALLEY in 1958 or 1959. Renamed SYOSSET in 1973 after previous SYOSSET (LIRR 2001) was wrecked. Operated as private commuter club car. (#2004).

Here, she resides on the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad dead track, awaiting restoration to be turned into a dining car.

This car was also discussed earlier on RYPN:

http://rypn.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2127

It is an interesting car, being one of the older surviving Pullman heavyweights of this type, and being one of a few surviving Pullmans to be converted to coaches during WWII. It is also among a small number of cars to survive being used as Parlors by the LIRR.

No further word as to its fate?

Sometimes, it's best to just ask the RR directly, as I did on Facebook, to get the answer...

Thank you, Jim. Of course, you're correct about the direct approach. My bad.
