Here are two photos of the bridge they rebuilt with new timbers this past week and the ceremonial first train across; these videos of dumping ballast may work even if you aren't on facebook, lets see:

They have done some amazing progress there.
Videos don't work on dial-up, no u tube here! (bummer)
But how about some reports of how their big 60 anniversary weekend (this weekend!) went? The plans sounded grand, including running over this rebuilt bridge!

Hasn't happened yet. The 60th anniversary event is the 13th,14th and 15th of this week.

OH!!! MY bad, I thought it was this weekend. . . .
Well, that's what happens when you're on dial up--I'm years behind the technology, so being off a week isn't bad!!
Thanks All!

Trains magazine has posted an August 13, 2020 article about the EBT:
With a splash of grape juice, East Broad Top returns to operation
The article is behind the paywall.

Several photographs of the reopening have been posted over on railpictures.net:

Railpictures #745006 - Millie (Kovalchik) Glinsky again christening locomotive #12

Railpictures #745011 - Crowd at Orbisonia Station

Railpictures #745012 - GE center cab M-7 pulling a passenger train

Railpictures #745013 - Farmall tractor posed with Brill car M-1 pulling an unidentified passenger car.

That's great that they are having a very successful event. Railpictures. net is not dial-up friendly, so if someone wants to post some lower-res pics here, please do so!!!

I'm not seeing very many participants in the photos wearing face masks. We have to take this emergency seriously if we hope to have ANY public events this year that don't come with large numbers of infections in the weeks that follow. I know it's a pain, and I have coped by largely staying home where I don't have to wear one, but when I have gone out in the last few months I do, when I'm not alone in my car. I was absolutely appalled at the images I've seen of the Sturgis rally this past week, nearly 500,000 bikers NOT wearing masks, NOT socially distancing, and partying like it's a normal year. Well, there are probably going to be a lot of used Harleys turn up on the market from the estates of those people in the next six months.

When I went yesterday, about 90% or so of the guests were wearing face masks when in close proximity to everyone else.

Here's my video from Saturday: https://youtu.be/L1chIvGyjU4

Many thanks for posting the video - certainly shows that a lot of work has taken place recently.
Have been there twice in the past, but never in the workshops, so those views were particularly interesting to me.

OK, it's not as bad as the earlier photos looked to be, but from looking at Big Jim's video, the mask-wearing rate is not 90%, but certainly over 50%. From what I saw, the engine and rear-end train crews were not wearing masks, and the one guy giving a shop tour didn't have his mask covering his nose. He might as well have not had one on at all. We either have to take this totally seriously or stay apart. The evidence is that masks help. They are not a slam-dunk preventative measure, but they have to be worn properly and consistently if they are going to help at all. That is it. Sorry if I sound like a nag, but I have risk factors, and am responsible for my parents, who are both over 90. And this bug is by all accounts a horrible way to go. We could be like some other countries that have largely suppressed this, like New Zealand, but it's going to take more than a little sacrifice and collective cooperation.
