If that is the car at the right in the first photo in the news story, it seems intact although if exposed to intense heat looks may be deceiving.

According to Randall's Streamliner Cars, Vol III, the L&N coach is the ex L&N 3264, ex-Amtrak 6060, built by ACF 1955.

I sadly never took the time to stop in (I drove by once, but it was early morning and they were closed), but it was my understanding that the car was inside the building that burned around it.

It definitely wasn't visible from the road, but I didn't go behind to the abandoned Rutland ROW to have a look from the other side (And it's not visible in aerial imagery as well).

So I assume it's pretty severe, but perhaps there's hope for it. If not, maybe it's a potential parts donor if the right people act quick.

A true shame, especially if it's been inside for the past 60 or so years. And an absolute disaster for the poor folks that ran and operated a long lived business to have to go through this in these current times. I hope they recover and can rebuild, even if a bit of Rutland history is perhaps now lost.

Former B&M work train car 3288, the former L&N segregated coach turned into a "dining car," was spotted yesterday southbound through Sunbury, Pa. on the tail end of NS train 11Z (Binghamton-Enola and points south) with reporting marks SARM 3264 (the original L&N number).

An interior view from 2004 posted to the NS D&H and Southern Tier Lines group shows a well-done gut-and-tables conversion to the typical "dinner train" configuration most of us have seen many times.

Looks like it didn't meet the cutting torch after the fire after all. I went to their Facebook page to ask about it but recent entries show that it was saved and fixed up.

Not Nystroms. These are 5.5 x 10 tread brake trucks that L&N converted to TFM Disc.
