Was wondering if any one here is interested in section cars? Or putt putt cars as they are so called? There are rallies through out the USA.

If you would like to see them operated in NW Ohio.

The Toledo Lake Erie & Western Ry. is sponcering the Nickel Plate Road Historical Technical Society, Inc. convention in Sept. 13, 14, 2003. These cars will be operating this week end. I will have them on the tracks early.

If you would like more information, or have a motorcar you would like to operate down the track please email me.

Along the same lines as Vic's post for the upcomming motorcar run, I was wondering if any of the readers of RYPN collect, restore and operate motorcars as part of rail preservation?

I personally have 3 cars, all ex-Illinois Central lineage.

I have found that they are great PR tools for getting people to come by and visit our display/volunteer recruiting table at several of the local antique engine shows we participate in.
We have found that the antique engine folks are usually interested in rail preservation as well, so it is a natural for them to want to volunteer to help work on our equipment.

I was very surprised when after the local engine show several folks stopped over to the station for a look-see. Had a lot of fun showing them the Cummins VT1710's in ge13031 and the original, unmodified Cummins "L" in AA715. They were very familiar with the engines but never saw them used in these applications. Far be it from me to discourage anyones interest or help in any one of my projects.
