Your attention is called to this entry by Frank Hicks on his Preserved Traction blog. Can anyone shed further light on the collection of hulks described in Frank’s post?

Thank you,

These have been moldering there for c.20 years. The problem is that too many PCCs are in this status; needing a caring home. There are nice ones going begging, let along battered hulks like these. The specie has been "over-collected" and the grim reaper is slowly but surely rectifying the matter.

The oxygen bottle near the first car kind of tells the story.

Yes, PCCs in general were an over-preserved group. They are often worth more in parts than as intact cars.

Perhaps better to put the effort towards starting planning on saving an Amtrak P40 and a P42 in the next year or so as the Siemans Chargers come on-line to displace them. I know they are not traction related, but it's still preservation, and something we very well could miss out on completely (see the P30CH). Even a shell without guts or traction motors is better than nothing, although certainly not optimal. I think most of us would have settled for a preserved NYC Hudson in any shape.
