Your rights end at the end of my nose, to use a term from the vernacular. That principle is why smoking is now banned in public places throughout the US, i.e. the "right" of someone to smoke does not apply when one is interacting with other people. If you don't want to interact with other people, i.e. you self-quarantine alone for the remainder of the public health emergency in your own home, then you have the right to go without a mask. But not out in public.

What I'm hearing about the new mutations of the virus is that this current decline in cases could very well be a calm period before the new, tougher, more virulent strains become the majority of new cases and once again fill the ICUs and morgues. How this ends is we quit giving it opportunities to spread from person-to-person and mutate. It's a numbers game and starving it of victims is the answer long-term. Patience, just a little longer.

Paul, Given that much of the spread is within families, from member-to-member, would it seem prudent that a mask mandate and social distancing guidelines should be extended to within households? Perhaps it could be enforceable by National Guard?

Ah yes, PMC’s nose. I was wondering how long it would take for this response. It has been used here before and verbatim, in fact. Let’s be clear here. NO ONE’s rights outweigh another’s. Works both ways. That is the root of a lot of peoples’ frustrations right now.

I will not go toe to toe with PMC, beyond this post. The last time I did, I was labeled a bully and censored. PMC clearly has friends in high places here and I apparently represent an unpopular point of view. The cards are stacked against me.

I will now fold before I am cancelled. Thanks. Good night, all. Take care, be safe, and be well.

Its dropping like a rock. Does this look like a situation that requires more mask mandates? The numbers do not support this emergency order.

If you want to see an informative chart, check out the chart in this CNN article. The Czech Republic is now in a second full lockdown because they a) dropped their mask mandate; and b) reopened their economy in December. https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/28/europe/c ... index.html

"In public health, this is known as the paradox of success. When preventative measures work well, the public might underestimate the severity of the threat and come to believe the prevention was a waste of time."

From the US State Department for Embassy staff and US citizens in the Czech Republic, February 28, 2021: https://cz.usembassy.gov/health-alert-n ... -measures/ "From March 1, it will be forbidden to leave your district of permanent residence or domicile, without a fundamental reason, (i.e., for work or a doctor visit in a neighboring city). Confirmation from your employer will be needed for commuting to work in another district. People can do essential shopping within their districts only. The city of Prague counts as a “district.” Even within your district, daytime movements will be restricted to only necessary trips, such as commuting to work or shopping for essential items. Schools and daycares will close from March 1. Most retail shops and services will close. Only food stores, drugstores, pharmacies, opticians, and florists are allowed to remain open. The curfew between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. will remain in effect."

So this European country is back in full lockdown while Germany and the other European countries requiring face masks are reopening. Is this where we want to be again?

I love charts. It looks like cases may have started down just before Thanksgiving and again at Christmas, but popped back up. I guess the Super Bowl parties didn't become super spreader events.

There are still so many unknowns. That is why people like Dr. Fauci say we may be wearing masks for two more years, because they don't know if the vaccines are effective against the new strains or if people can still spread it after being vaccinated or having had c-19 . They are sometimes prone to overhype just to get people's attention and compliance. Or not being totally honest last year when he said you don't need to mask up, because he was really afraid there would be a run on the N95 masks. I think it's just what bureaucrats do, including the FRA and TSA. The National Parks Service policy is that you do not need a mask outdoors unless you can't social distance or in areas such as narrow trails and outlooks. It is interesting to note that the NPS employees have to be masked whenever they are on NPS property.

The thing is as an American abroad, I can tell you, you are not getting the full story. I live in italy, the interregional travel is not permitted, many regions are Red, so no leaving your house except essentials or work. Orange, no leaving your municipality except emergency issues, eg medical or work, very few regions are yellow or white, have had mask mandates for most of a year.

So the italians are prohibited from exercising there natural rights, in a country that economically is collapsing. Save just one life to trample on the freedoms of others.

I spent the first lockdown in a 300 sq ft hotel, I could leave to get groceries and work, that was it. And not in the same day, my toddler couldn't go outside for 54 days. It is not getting better it ebbs and tides, let people have freedom of choice. I mean I can't walk on a nature trail around no one with out a mask...

Moderators, please lock this thread it is not a discussion we need to have on RYPN, better left to a social media site. The EO is a regulation that is all.

Image No boarding the electric street Railway without a facial covering apparatus. If the government can demand we ware clothing for modesty reasons they sure as hell can demand we wear masks for safety reasons. 7 CFR I also mandates steel toe boots with a defined heel?

Here hear. Complaining on this forum about an FRA order is equivalent to complaining about the Sun rising in the east; it is what it is. Moderators, please lock it up.

No Rick, it is not dropping like a rock; it has actually leveled off, with around 68,000 new confirmed cases each day in the U.S.

"What we have been doing is working, so let's stop doing it now that it has proven its effectiveness."

Fantasy graphic novels are easier to believe.
