Thanks for sharing these posts. I actually prefer news items posted to the Interchange, as in Flimsies they get discarded after a few weeks. Sometimes tracking what happened over time gets lost.

However, inevitably the links will go dead. If posting a news item to the Interchange, please add enough text so the message is retained. It will help us to recall what the story was. Thanks!

Thanks indeed for sharing. It just so happens that one of their volunteers is a young lady with an engineering degree, who also is an engineer on #9. She works for Boilersmith, and is involved right now designing the replacement boiler for my locomotive. It's certainly nice to see young folks raised right...

There's a switch. An American looking to Canada for boiler work. It's usually the other way around.

At least one recently built steam locomotive has a brand new boiler from Boilersmith. I would guess that you will see their name more in the near future...

Boilersmith was originally the Robert Bell Engine & Thresher Co. It has been making boilers for close to 125 years.
We have used them for certified materials such as stay material and boiler plate. Boilersmith will produce custom designed boilers and are fully certified with American and Canadian authorities.
A good company with a good name.

Is boiler welder Bob Oliver tied to this company? He did the welding on ETR#9 years ago and he lived in Seaforth where Boilersmith is located. About 20 years ago Bob had cancer, so I don't even know if he is still around.

Bob Oliver is still very active. Friends just took delivery of a boiler from Oliver's. He used to work for Robert Bell/Boilersmith.
