There's plenty of rich absurdity and parody to be had, as The Babylon Bee demonstrates daily. The challenge has always been GOOD parody/humor. Many such sketches have become absolute classics (see Monty Python's Flying Circus, early "Saturday Night Live," "South Park," etc.); too many more are abominably forgettable (has anyone remembered a "SNL" sketch in the past decade or more?).

It's just "offensensitivity" and "political correctness" that has ruined the premise.
