Just wondering if work has been suspended on Steamtown's 3713? Updates had been frequent on their facebook with steady momentum being shown, but I have not seen any updates since December. Has this been due to Covid regulations?

Just the opposite, #3713 was the beneficiary of continued work last year thanks to the shop staff being allowed on site. Last year a lot of attention was directed to the tender, stoker and booster engine. The change in volume of Facebook posts is unrelated to progress on the locomotive. I expect there will be a full progress update soon from the Project3713 partners, it’s a little overdue. - Rob (Project3713 fundraising)

3713 also got the feedwarer heater cold water pump overhauled. It seems Coffin is still in business in North Jersey and they did the job on a discounted "time available" basis.

Sending a steam engine appliance back to the original manufacturer for overhaul! Amazing.

Correct, Coffin Turbo Pump, Inc of Englewood, NJ did the work. That's one of the many neat stories behind the restoration. BTW that corner of NJ was a feedwater system hotspot as Worthington was also located not too far away in Harrison.

The embrionic syphons can be seen in the third photo in Erich's last report on what is new in the shops.

Since then, we have been working on tooling for forming the the funnels at the top where the syphons intersect the crown sheet.

These are the partially formed inlet tubes for the syphons.

Nice use of 3D parametric profiling on the dies.

I had been wondering the same thing about 3713 myself. Looks like a lot got done over the past year, even without the updates. Hopefully reassembly is able to start sooner rather than later. Wish you guys the best!

Hi All
I am happy to read on just how much progress is being made on the locomotive,
you are gaining ground and getting closer to the first firing up of the locomotive.
But each new bolt, or the cleaning of rust, bring the locomotive closer to the first fire, keep up the good work.
