A link to a 3D pdf of Climax SN/CN 1551 may be found at the link below. About 99% complete except for the Boiler. Requires Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader as browser pdf previewers will not view 3D pdfs properly. Set viewing as Solid Outline and CAD Optimized or Headlight for best viewing. It's large file so it will be slow.

One may Zoom In, Rotate, Pan and Hide individual parts to "See" what is underneath. Locomotive follows Climax practice with a few changes by the Mountain State Railroad and Logging Historical Assn. and a few changes made by the Durbin & Greenbriar Valley R.R. (Shay stack). Locomotive contains about 10,400 individual parts.

Drawings prepared from original Climax Mfg. Co. drawings provided by John D. Lewis, and repetitive, careful and extensive measurements of the parts of 1551 at Cass while the author was working on the restoration, and historical research.

That's awesome!
Would love to see some sort of digital repository of 3d CAD locomotive drawings available and searchable online. That'd be a huge help to various restoration efforts.

As I have mentioned before these models are truly fantastic. A couple of the links aren't working for me, including the first one.

Something went wrong at the Amazon AWS site as it did work. I tried to download signed in and could not so I have renamed the file and uploaded again.

It is now working from the link in the original posting as I edited the link to the new file.

Do not know why. Let me know if it fails anyone.
