Right, Jim. A 27G has two outside hung motors per truck. With that short a wheelbase a 3' 6" gauge 27G truck would easily swivel on Denver City streetcar curves.

When asked, the head of the crew that restored the Collings Foundation's WW2 B-24J Liberator bomber said "we replaced everything but the shadow," but in this case, I think they went much further than that.
Such an amazing job!

I actually managed to retain 80% of the metal siding with dents and all which was what Arvada and Historic Pres wanted, we replaced 100% of the wood insert in the frame, and probably 50% of the extraordinarily complex body/window uprights (windows on this car drop down into the body to give a open air car) 50% of main roof bows were replaced and 2% of side bows, 98% of the roof laths had to be replaced, a section of wood siding was retained under the metal cladding for historical purposes and plywood added as per original 40s repairs, 40% of windows were re-manufactured the rest were made up from good parts from the old frames, interestingly Denver tramways were doing this as well, we found parts of C&S windows used to repair the trolley frames including a piece from my Car 57 !

So considering how bad it was and how much we salvaged i was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

I would love to obtain Denver 319 now which is up on a mountain in Wyoming.

I love how they are numbered with a decimal.
That's so they know which gauge of the system's track to run it on when it reaches the end of a dual gauge section. Decimal points are for narrow gauge cars, standard gauge Denver trolleys have whole numbers.
Some further comments about numbers and gauges.

The Denver Tramway was a 42" gauge operation city operation. It also operated four interurban lines. One to Golden was 42" gauge; the other to Golden was operated as the standard gauge Denver & Intermountain RR.

Another 42" gauge line operated to Leyden and the coal mines in that area. A portion of the line was 3-rail (std and 42" gauges) outside of the city and beyond a std gauge connection (allowing for std gauge shipments from the coal mines). A short ng branch from this line connected Denver with Arvada.

The narrow-gauge, city-car system used conventional (whole) numbers for the 42" gauge city streetcars. The 42" gauge interurban cars to Golden, Arvada, and Leyden received the decimal style numbers. The std gauge cars of the D&I-M were numbered 20-25.

See Mile High Trolleys by Jones, Wagner, and McKeever published by The Intermountain Chapter, NRHS in 1965.

Brian mentioned Denver Tramway's coal train beyween Leyden Mine and the powerhouse. It was was 42" gauge, giving Denver both freight and passenger operation on three different gauges.
