From everything I’ve seen, the first few days were busier. Not sure if it’s thinned out with time.

I attended the first excursion of the 2019 and 2021 seasons. This year was a lot less-busy than 2019. It seems like the 2021 excursions are mostly ridden by railfans instead of just the general public, compared to the amount of the public who rode the 2019 season. Now I will say, after chasing it to Strasburg both years, I can say that more guys were trackside than in 2019.

Is Strasburg operating trains at 100% capacity yet?

Don’t forget that many people came from other countries to see 611 in 2019... many don’t have that option right now!

Comparing crowd sizes is apples to oranges. 2019 was a few weekends, this is an extended season. They saw the opportunity to serve passengers and customers for a longer duration, which suggests that they saw the demand.
