Did anyone ride or see the Steamtown trip to the Delaware Water Gap yesterday? I am surprised that I have not seen anything about it on here (or anywhere else for that matter).

Hello All

The train seemed to run well and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The Park Service did alot of planning and there were no hitches that I know of, except for waiting a half hour for firemen to extinguish an adjacent trackside fire near Scranton on the return trip. Weather was not the best, but not horrible either.

Don't forget that 2 more trips will run in October! The NPS website had been updated with pictures and a detailed trip report.

> Hello All
The Steamtown NHS web site is updated. Check the link below. I knew of some flaws, such as leaving a few people behind, but there were more smiles than frowns. The DEWA rangers had a blast, and performed well despite this being their first interp train ride. Both parks, along with the railroad, pulled off a great trip.
Many good ideas came from the visitors / riders on the train. Photo stops need to be added to special trips like this, along with smoke breaks. Ken Ganz gave the new digital camera a workout Saturday.

Second-hand reports I got were all positive, with the suggestion Tim noted of having Photo Stops. Sounds like the train ran well... even ahead of schedule at some points, and I've heard quite a few kudos for the on-train staff. Way to go!

Backstage, as the train crew bask in the glory, there are always the people who work hard to make everthing run smooth. The Interp rangers from both Steamtown and the Delaware Water Gap did a great job with the family's and railfans who rode on the "Bridging the Gap" trip. Also are the men who anyone hardly see inspecting and repairing the antiquated 80+ year old locomotive, working in the inspection pit and the shops. The trip went well both crowd wise and mechanically. I just want to thank all whos names never made the list on the sheet of paper that was in the package that was handed out to all passengers. The interps, law inforcement, the event people and last but surely not least the guy's who bust their knuckles keeping the train rolling.

ME, there's nobody on this list who doesn't understand that Steam engines are maintenance intensive and in constant need of TLC. Riders comment on the train crew because that's who they have contact with and so, no slight is intended or should be taken.

PS, T&E understands and appreciates the good work that is done by the guys in the shop.

Please read my post carefully.
"I just want to thank all whos names never made the list on the sheet of paper that was in the package that was handed out to all passengers." Did not make the list is the key words to my post.
