CNR 47 was mentioned in one of the current Steamtown threads. I am aware of the destroyed boiler paperwork from the 1960s. Since a new 1472 is required, is the missing paperwork still an issue?

My opinion, 47 would be the ideal economical locomotive for Steamtown until a larger loco is restored, if ever. Poor Nelson Blount!

Agreed. Just think, there were railfan weekends in Vermont that had 5-6 engines under steam. I believe there was one that had all 3 G5s, 2317, NH Trap Rock 46, and a fireless charged with steam from one of the
live engines.

What sort of external state is it in now?
I took this photo in 2011, so another 10 years of exposure to the elements won't have done it many favours.....

I might point out, #46 is displayed outdoors in Quebec, near St. Georges, and #49 is at ExpoRail. There is plenty of documentation to restore this locomotive.

Maybe Exporail has this documentation. Le musée Ferroviaire de Beauce (Beauce railway museum) has in his long term project CNR 46 get back on service too. Steamtown can look with its museums.

Its a shame when i look the Canadians locomotives collection at Steamtown today 2929 3377 and 47 need a big cleanup.

There was a time I would have solicited you as a volunteer.

However, at the present time, I cannot in good conscience do that-and it's not just my experience, but that of several other folks.

Hate to nitpick, but is it 2929 at Steamtown?

I knew that two of the 4-4-4 Jubilee's still survived and l figured that the very last one (2929) was the one still up in Canada. I should have dug out my J. David Conrad book to find out. Thanks for setting me straight.

Call Rapido and do the engines in HO. It's not going to happen in 1:1 scale. If nothing else, they are Canadian engines in a US NPS-owned facility.

This is US NPS Steamtown. It took them 10 years to get 0-6-0 26's overhaul done.

3713 is a US-built passenger locomotive named Constitution. There's a frigate by that name at one end of the B&M. (not NPS-owned) There's an earlier document by that name that was adopted in a NPS facility in Philadelphia. (not NPS-owned)
