Recently, I have been looking at materializing a trip to the iconic railroad graveyard known as Larry’s Truck and Electric in McDonald Ohio however have no prior knowledge of the location or any idea how they work. Since information online is somewhat scarce and the last thread on a website I could find was from 2004 here are some questions I have that others may be able to answer.

When are they open or do they have specific hours/days?

Are you able to just walk right in and strip/purchase parts you are looking for or do you have to call ahead?

How much do they charge for horns and possible builders plates? I know railfan demand has driven prices up in some cases?

Do they have signals crossbucks etc also on premises?

Being a guy from the Detroit area I don’t want to make a 3+ Hour trip only to find out that I have to jump through hoops before hand before I even lay my eyes on an old forlorn switcher.

I bought two locomotives (ex- N&W GP-9's) from them 25 years ago and had arraigned to visit beforehand. If you don't have permission to visit you most likely won't be allowed in. It is not a "pick and pull". They have parts but probably will do the "pulling".
Call George or Spiro and ask. Two nice guys and good businessmen. Larry was their Dad.

Would you happen to know where I can find their numbers or is it the one that comes up on google?

LTE does not allow horn pulling either. You get to buy either a 3 or a 5 chime. You don't get a choice.

LTEX has three sites and multiple warehouses that aren’t open to the public. If you have a specific part request, call ahead (330) 399-1881. It may take them awhile to track down what you need if they have it.

They generally don't want to be bothered unless you have something specific that you are looking for. While there are a lot of switchers stored in McDonald, this isn't the time of year to be wandering through them unless you want to be stung a bunch of times. Something I've learned from being on the railroad is to avoid to the extent possible doing stuff outside in July/August. The bees/wasps/hornets etc. are everywhere.

In the past 40 years not many locomotives got "builders plates" Most have just been a sticker applied to the side of the locomotive.
