After three years, the festival returns to Benešov, where its first edition was held. This year you can also look forward to locomotives from the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. Every day we are working on preparing a varied program for the 3rd edition of the festival and negotiating the transport of attractive and interesting exhibits to the Benešov depot. And we are also preparing the traditionally very interesting star rides of special trains around Benešov.

Thank you for posting this, I probably won't make it, but I forwarded the link to my buddy in Leipzig. I'm not sure if the word PAPUSEK is German or Czech for parrot, but I'd sure love to see these streamlined 4-8-4 tank engines of the CSD before I die.

I have only once seen ČSD 477.013, "the Parrot" (Czech = "Papagáj") (Deutsch = "Papagei"). On February 21, 2016, the attached image was recorded by me (under less than ideal conditions) at Gelnica, Slovakia.

• ČSD 477.013, 4-8-4T (CKD 3012 / 1951), 3-cylinder tenderlok

ČSD 477.013 is operated in Slovakia by Klub železničných historických vozidiel Poprad (Club of Historical Railway Vehicles Poprad (KŽHV)): http://www.kzhv.eu/

In our club library, we have a sales book from the Czech state locomotive factory. I think it was dated 1958. It is a thick sales book with detailed descriptions and promotional material, in English, on the "products" that the Czech works could deliver.

At the end, it has a really curious disclaimer. It seems a political decision was made quickly, to discontinue steam. So there is this beautiful sales book for steam locomotives, and then on the rear cover, it says, "CS locomotive works no longer produces steam locomotives, and this book should be kept as a historic document on the great history of steam locomotive production in Czechoslovakia."

On February 7, 2022, I was informed by a friend in The Netherlands that ČSD 477.043, "Parrot," was steamed for the final time on August 21, 2021. Evidently, its boiler certificate has expired.

Of course I am not pleased with this news, but I thank you for posting it. There is a very similar locomotive, I think maybe a different subclass, painted green, and another 4-8-4 tank engine with no streamlining, class 464. The Czech Republik is well supplied with interesting steam types, for sure.

But if I want to see a blue parrot on wheels, at least I have a very nice beer stein, with a very nice silk screen picture of one. Prost...

This Class 464 4-8-4 was rather black when I saw it in Brno several years ago....

My grandmother was born in what was then called "Western Bohemia", somewhere near Prague and lived there until she was 5 and headed to Ellis Island.
My whole life, I've always wanted to visit the area (though I doubt I ever will). Though this is much later in the year than I'd like to visit eastern Europe, I'd sure love to see this at the same time.
