Preparations are now under way to finally relocate the wooden former Baltimore & Ohio WB Tower at Brunswick, Md., just to the (timetable) east of the (former B&O, now MARC) passenger depot there, off CSX property to the other side of the B&O/CSX main, where a new foundation (on the site of the former Railroad YMCA building) is being prepared to receive the tower and improve public access.

There have been numerous false alarms in the past week of "the railroad guys said they're moving it tomorrow!" in the region's social media and railfan grapevines. Following that, someone actually followed up with city government and their response was that moving was planned for some indeterminate date in March; there will supposedly be press releases and public advisories issued in advance.

Brunswick has long been home to a storefront local history museum heavy on the railroad history, as well as a trackside train-viewing platform and B&O wooden caboose C1926 on display, both just west of the station. In addition, former B&O wooden caboose C-1944 is also parked at the football field outside the local high school uphill from town.

Photo of the tower is from May 1990 by Paul Cockerham, Md, Railway Heritage Library collection.

Kevin -

Photo story on the Ahead of the Torch (AOTT) website of the tower being moved to its new location. It has also been painted and looks good. And it appears that it was swung around 180 degrees so that it still "faces the track" on its new foundation. No word however about the status of the inside.

1) there is no such content at the AOTT website--only a "placeholder" photo and text.

2) The AOTT Facebook page shares a nice photo essay by Todd Crone; here's the original:

One photo from said post:

Brunswick is my home town - I'm glad to hear this was saved.

My understanding is that most or all of the equipment inside is intact. Hoping to be able to arrange a quick photo shoot during a trip home.
