I am helping on a project to truck an Industrial Works 120-ton Wrecking Crane. Removing the boom and hook blocks are routine except for any difficulty removing the boom pin.
The complicate operation is removing the House/ [upper works] which must be lifted off the fixed vertical centering pin of the chassis {car].

Is there anyone that's familiar with doing this? And knows exactly how to rig lifting slings?

On the House's boom end, slings can be attached to the boom pins, it's the rear end rigging that is the problem with no easily attachable rigging points. My guess is on frame in front of boiler or rigging to rear turntable rollers.

Looking for any working drawings of these parts. Industrial Works parts lists or maintenance manuals would be of great help
I do have the 1920s era Industrial Works Catalogue but it's for sales so no deep technical information

Thanks

I don't know of any drawings for the Industrial Works wreckers but there are quite a few preserved. Maybe one of the museums that has a crane has drawings. These museums have 120 ton IW wreckers: Arizona Ry Museum, Orange Empire, Bay Area Electric, Moffat RR Museum, B&O Museum, Ford Museum, Strausberg RR, Georgetown RR, Texas State RR, Utah State RR Museum, Virginia Museum of Transportation and Mid-Continent. I hope you find what you need.

You might try contacting the Historical Construction Equipment Association. They have an extensive library of manufacturer’s literature. While a wrecking crane isn’t really construction equipment, it’s possible they have literature or can point you to someone who does.

Contact IPS Cranes in Duluth. They’re the inheritor of Industrial Works. Though a big portion of the historical records and drawings were lost due to water damage, they may still be able to help. They cobbled together a manual for me for a similar 250T to ours.
