Hello, I am looking for information on the former Norfolk Southern M Line in Central Georgia, as well as the status of the Roosevelt Railroad in Griffin.

I know that most of the M Line has been ripped up now, but does anyone have any photos, videos, operational records, etc. of it? I know there used to be a picture of a Southern engine on the M Line near Williamson (I think) on rrpicturearchives but it seems to be gone now.

I know the Roosevelt had several old steam locomotives on the property, but as of the last time I've driven by the fence line is so overgrown you really can't tell if anything is still there. Does anyone know anything?

I'm trying to get a general idea of the status of abandoned lines in Central Georgia, and as the M Line is closest to me, I thought I'd start there. Anything on the Roosevelt is also appreciated.

From Google Maps Sattelite Data, it looks like the locomotives are still just sitting in the field as they were in 2012, but it's hard to tell. I can't seem to find a single source later than about 2014.

It's sad, really, that these locomotives have been left out like this. They should be in a proper museum. Wonder what will happen to them in the coming years.

Also, any info anyone has on the M Line would be much appreciated.

Thanks, but I've seen this. The only problem with things this old is that most of the information has been lost to time. Maybe some of the old-timers in the Lions Club or American Legion will know some things. I'll ask when I get a chance and post back here if I get anything. Sadly, it seems that the M Line's records probably no longer exist, especially after changing hands to the NS.

However, I do have an update on the Roosevelt: It seems that only one locomotive remains on the property, and that's the one out in the field. This isn't confirmed, but my source is a resident of the neighborhood, so I'd say there's a good chance they're right.

I understand this is the line FDR used to reach his "Little White House" in Warm Springs GA from Atlanta.

One thing you could do for photos is go to rrpictureearchive under Georgia and search the list of towns. I don't know the town names for that line, but if you recognize towns on this list where the line in question was the only one through there, there is a chance you will see photos of it (though there is a chance you will see modern photos of a McMuseum also). http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locati ... 3&ID=GA,US Given that this line was closed over forty years ago it isn't that likely that anyone on RyPN would have photos.
