That is a fairly common way for live steamers to replicate a wagon top boiler without having to make the difficult to form and fit tapered course. They just shorten the tapered course until it is vertical, then put tapered jacketing over it. SRC's Cagney's boiler is built like that, but you wouldn't know it due to the tapered jacket.

Maybe I'm off base, but I thought at least one replica boiler for a full size locomotive has been constructed in a similar way.

As far as I am aware, every Hunslet quarry locomotive is built with a boiler of this style, hence why the firebox top is nearly level with the saddle tank.

I believe most early broad gauge locomotives of the GWR had this type of boiler as well.

I’d posit that enough were written that they allowed no time to dust the desk and cabinet.

Also, wasn't there a railcar business at another site? Is all that stuff already gone or is there another auction or even several to come? How many locations did he have?

In the end they turned somewhere in the neighborhood of 60K, adding up the results of everything that sold for $100 or more.

The only one that makes me sick is the $35 4x8 trailer. I had to pay $625 plus fees for one in June.

Pretty much everything that could go wrong for them has gone wrong recently, they are light in the wallet and don't have storage space, but they say an allied organization may look at it.

I think anyone that is going to bid on items needs to be "buyer beware".

I am over 1,300 miles away from the Shoshoni, Wyoming site. I called the party that is onsite to handle shipping for successful purchasers. The auction closes on Tuesday, and he told me that anything that is not off the property by the following Sunday will be lost to the purchaser. He told me that they will "lock the building up". I have some interest in a few larger items. He told me that unless I was willing to make the drive to not count on them getting shipped.

I contacted another party that has handled shipping for me before and he told me that this place is so remote, that trucking companies do not want to go there. He said it is basically a "one way haul" for the trucking companies and that I would have to pay them for a "one-way dead head move, as well as your loaded miles".

It is also a bad time of the year to drive to that area on count of snowstorms.
