Since this was previously the subject of some discussion here I thought I'd post an update.

Looks like the winning bidder eventually failed to come up with the necessary funds, and the 2nd highest bidder as well. Ownership of the ferry has been awarded to the 3rd highest bidder, who plans to keep the ship in Washington state. Story from the National Trust's "Preservation Online" website.

Sorry, the pun was intended.
I'm still afraid for this boat. The whole situation looks so familiar. How many steam locomotives, and other pieces of railroad history and how many vintage aircraft and other historic artifacts have met the fate of good intentions without the funding to go with it?
On the other hand, the boat's probably way better off at the moment than it was up in Alaska, so who knows? But, if the present new owner fails to reach his goal then what? The breakers yard?
