Sigh. Yet another bull---- post from Mr. Mitchell.

The FEBT has been holding monthly 2-day long work sessions and work weeks during the summer for decades now.

Okay, correction:

People are now contributing to a NON-PROFIT, not benefiting the well-being of a private operation. I knew of a LOT of potential volunteers for whom that was the major stumbling block.

Is there any possibility of comparing donated funds, man-hours, etc. before and after the transition of (the majority of) the EBT to a non-profit's hands? Are you going to say there's been no vast increase?

Another factor: FEBT work was, for the past ten years, "for the sake of the EBT".
Nobody knew what the future was. Was it all going for naught? That was a thing that was hanging over everyone's heads.

But now? There's a VERY visible great future for the EBT.

Success begets success.

And people are attracted to successful operations.

With all due respect I think that Mr. Anderson and TGB 4th. are miss stating a VERY important and germane point.

For decades the Friends of the East Broad Top labored to keep the place from going to complete ruin on the faith and belief that someday a long term solution would emerge that would bring it back to life. They also had assurances from the owning family that it was not going to get ripped up and sold for scrap and that they too wanted to find a viable long term answer.

Well,in 2020 when industry leaders Moorman, Levin and Posner formed the EBT Foundation and purchased the property that wait was over.

Membership in the Friends ( www.febt.org) has more than doubled since then and is now approaching 2,000 members. Is it easier to get folks to contribute money and labor knowing it's going into a project not for profit that promises long term growth?? Absolutely.

We should all remember to thank both the Kavolchik family and the Friends of the EBT who kept the place together through all those years ( 1956-2020 ) waiting for the miracle that occurred in 2020 to take place.

If you're able please join the Friends of the EBT ( febt.org )and lend a hand towards reopening the whole railroad.

Thanks, Ross Rowland
