As far as we can tell, everything points to Vulcan.

Youse guys are just messin' wid me now, it's obvious from looking at the builder's plate that #5 is a CHEVROLET. Of course, I should have known that by looking at the bell bracket. CONGRATULATIONS and best of luck with her.

Too bad the engine house couldn't be dismantled and moved easily, I know of someone with a Plymouth diesel that would fit in there nicely.

As to delivering MDT 5, PA didn't have a sales tax until 1953, so it could be delivered to NYC in PA. If NY State considered delivery to NYC to be delivery to MDT, then there's no sales tax.

You could move the lokie (on a flatcar) from Vulcan in W-B via CNJ to DL&W (Bloom) to RDG (Catawissa Br.) and delivered to NYC's PA Division at Newberry PA. From Newberry, up NYC to Lyons NY, then East Rochester.

I believe I once saw a photo of this locomotive while in service for the junkyard/scrapyard, and I think it was remarkably "dolled-up" which makes me think the owner was something of a railfan. Another interesting fact is that a junkyard by the railroad tracks in this same town, was where the two 2' gauge Monson locomotives were found. Perhaps he was acting as an agent for a buyer, or had acquired the engines after some effort to use them for another project failed. There is more to the story and I hope to learn what can be found.
