Didn't she get the pilot truck off of #2816, which is why CPR had to go hunting for a new one?

No, with the setting of the sun, and the arrival of the Rescue train (DLs ALCO C636 no. 3642, with three of Steamtown's DL&W MU coaches), the Wreck crew called it a night. The rescue train hauled the private cars and Steamtown's CNJ combine back to Scranton, arriving after 9pm. On Sunday afternoon,three more coaches showed up. CP 2317 came back to Scranton Wednesday night, Oct 29 around 8pm. It stayed hot the entire time. I'm sure the track is in tip top shape, now.

Today, (Nov 5) I walked through the Roundhouse and noticed the rear tender truck is off the tender, which is detached from the engine. 2317 is now cold. We expect it to haul Polar Express trains to the North Pole beginning Nov. 30.

Hello Rob, etc....

Going by by old pictures and postcards and a few old accounts...

When the 2317 was restored in VT it ran with a truck (original?) that had one spoked and one solid wheel, its easy to pick out in old pictures from the 70's and 80's. At some point that turck was exchanged for the truck from under the 2816. That truck contained both solid wheels.

When the 2816 was transfered back to CPRS the NPS elected to keep the hudson truck with the 2317, but also to keep the 2317 original truck with was now under the 2816 hundson.

By the way, I'm just mentioning the spoked/solid thing for comparison in old pictures, its nothing that odd, I think the R&N 425 is also so equipped.

P&W interurban car 46 (St. Louis 1907), also in Scranton, has one truck having one axle with solid wheels and one with spoked.

Pacific Electric (home brew) Freight Motor 1624 had spoked wheels when my mother photographed it passing our home in Monrovia around 1943. Some time between then and 1959 (when it was retired) it acquired the solid wheels that it still has at Orange Empire.
Long gone is Pacific Coast RR narrow gauge electric loco No. 1 with a 2-motor power truck under one end and a pilot truck from a scrapped 4-4-0 under the other. There's one for the modelers!
