Augusta RR question

Were the tracks of the Augusta RR in Arkansas ever torn up? I had heard they were removed in the 1980s, in a street paving project. Three engines from this line still exist, a 2-6-0 and two gas/mechanical critters.

Bob,
The 2 gas/mechanicals are safe at the Ft. Smith Trolley Musuem.
I don't know what happened to the Mogul.

Found this nice website devoted to the Augusta RR. On one of the pages, the webmaster describes a recent visit to Augusta. It appears there is little left of the railroad, apparently removed at about the time the two gas/mechanicals were taken to Fort Smith. There is a complete history of the Augusta RR, with photos.

Mogul No. 300 is now at Grand Rapids, Michigan and cosmetically restored in Christmas-like colors, oddly named for the present outgoing Governor of Michigan. It is part of a commercial development there.

Bob:

If I recall correctly, the 300 was one of those "Cuban Sugar Locomotives" built by ALCO's Cooke Works a a "stock" engine for the sugar industry down there. A number of these engines were eventually sold to operations in the U.S.A., including #300.
