"Master of details".... very true. Nothing escaped Don Smith, and those mimeo'ed memos covered EVERYTHING. During the late 1930s and into the 50s, Don was one of the earliest EMC/EMD field service reps, showing the railroad personnel how FTs and Es and Sws operated and were to be maintained. He was also a long-time steam engineer on the Black River & Western.
