I don't think you'll find much in the Macon papers, because the atrocity took place in Columbus, GA, not Macon. This story was mentioned on Wes Barris' site. It's a darn shame she didn't survive long enough to be included in the Southern Railway steam program.

Thanks for at least clearing Macon of this scrapping. BTW, do you happen to know which 4-8-4 she was; I don't think I ever heard which one had been set aside for preservation. Thanks again for the info.
