Sad to see the 6773 go. I spent many a day behind the throttle while doubleheading with No. 18 back in the early days of the GCRY. Both locomotives at full throttle (steam and diesel) charging the hill past Anita with a long train was pretty impressive.

One of the foreman came out and looked at the progress and asked if we'd be willing to work OT so that the Alco could return to service.

We did and enough material had been removed so that the flat spots were gone. A long day with 6871.
