In our October quarterly newsletter, a fascinating article that was months in the making will be published for our membership to enjoy of how the 2100 was selected for a movie with a world famous actor to be filmed at a well-known railroad location!

Join for just $35/yr and get this plus a 22 page booklet of other fascinating Reading T-1 stories and photos that have been published in past newsletters like how 2123 was almost saved; Engineer, Fireman, and CMO Steve Wickersham’s memoirs of the 2101’s AFT 1 and CSS restoration and operations, plus details of the fire damage and comparisons to the 614; Ross Rowland’s additional details of the 2101’s 30-day miracle, and more as told by the people who restored and ran these locomotives, or have been retrieved from actual Reading correspondence and technical documents thanks to the generosity of Reading Railroad Historian Michael Smith (a $5 value). T-1 History Booklet also available separately for just $5 plus $1 shipping.

Does it really matter?

As I type, there is something of a word-of-mouth effort to save for preservation the ex-CP F-unit that VERY PROMINENTLY starred in the much better-known movie "Silver Streak." There has been some well-meaning debate as to whether the notoriety of the film star-dom is worthy of the extra effort that would be needed to rescue the loco from eventual scrapping (at the moment I think it's a stored leftover from the Montreal STCUM commuter fleet).

If we can't get enthusiasts behind saving the "star loco" from what is undoubtedly one of THE greatest railroad-centric movies of all time................
