I think the biggest shame is that it's headed to be a spectacle, instead of being preserved.

Any actual museum would've been better.

It depends how one defines preservation. Certainly, being painted and on public display is more care than the No. 3 has received since the end of the EBT (failing roof, humid structure, etc). The only real regret is that someone decided to cut the rods, instead of a less obtrusive approach. Since the EBTF does not own any of the standard gauge trackage around Mt Union, nor the enginehouse, it's not a big loss. Perhaps in time.

According to a post today on the Red Bay Museum's Facebook page, EBT #3's tender will be set in place on the display track on Monday 8/19 with the engine being set in place on Tuesday 8/20, subject to change. The museum has posted their own images of the loading at Mount Union and I'm sure will be posting images of the unloading and the placement of the locomotive. The tender is shown in all black paint with EBT lettering. If you want to follow the project, go to Facebook and put Red Bay Museum in the search.

Regards,
Jim Robinson
