I didn't realize that Marion was EMD-designed, I assumed it was a repurposed steam shop. The shop is long-gone I would guess? Too bad. EL always had better power than PRR/PC, which is why the ex-PRR managers at Conrail grabbed EL's units right away and put them on Conrail's ex-PRR 10mph track.

Erie Marion Shop was EMD designed and was build by Erie RR employees.

EMD once stated that they designed 97 diesel shops for US railroads.

Do we know who designed the beautifully elegant fuel (etc.) racks for the original four-unit Erie FT servicing in wartime?

Is there is a list of EMD designed diesel shops, so that it would be possible to track down how many still exist? I would bet that the now-gone D&RGW Burnham shop was one, I wonder if the Rio Grande shop in Pueblo, which I believe still exists, was another.

I seem to recall the DL&W Scranton, now Steamtown shop was an EMD shop.

If any list survived, I have not seen it yet. Bill Hottinger was the artist for most of the shop plans.

Over 200 locomotive performance charts now posted going back to the EMC FT, to provide accurate comparisons for future researchers.

A question I've grown tired of asking.
Years ago when Joe Collias was putting together his Frisco Power and MP Power books, he had borrowed from Mr. Barriger his old Frisco and MP negatives. They went back into the 1930s and many scenes were shots Mr. Barriger had taken from the rear end of passenger trains, very nice shots. Some were used in Joe's books.
When I look at Flicker, I see none of the Frisco photos. I have written the library a couple times asking what happened to those negatives. There were several shots I would have liked to use in my Frisco Steam Salute book. I never received a replay and still am curious as to there they went.
They were priceless in showing different depots and "plant" scenes from the 30s.
Does anyone have a clue where they went?
I bought Joe's Frisco negative collection after his death and none were in there. They seem to have vanished in thin air. A big loss.

An original EMD FT parts list converted to JPEG and posted. This had a lot of information not available in the later Catalog 90. It does not include the 567 engine.

The EL diesel shop in Marion, Ohio is very much alive and well being used by Union Tank Car Company
I I remember correctly Preston said it was built by EMD being specifically designed to service FT locomotives which became a problem as diesel models progressed

The changes they made are in line with the refurbishment of the Scranton shops (now Steamtown) which were also reconfigured to service EMD A-B-A sets with three service tracks over a drop pit sized for B type trucks.

Yes the platform rail arrangement and placement of hydrants for water and lube oil were different for drawbar connected A-B-A FT sets.

I remember ads in Train magazine about "The Roundhouse Went Square", probably by Elector Motive Division. Were these shops being described?

Several people have asked about help with research or projects. Please note that all my files are now in St. Louis. There was no help to get them all copied before transfer.
