I didn't want to hi-jack Phil Mulligan's post re the RDG 1187 from CF&I and the J.F. Dyer 1187 that the PRR repatriated from Dyer Quarry, but there is a third 1187 working in Birdsboro.

With the advent of semi-permanently coupled ballast trains Dyer needed something larger than the center cab Whitcomb to handle these trains up a significant grade to the tipple. First came a Juniata Terminal SW1500 and we later provided them with a rebuilt MP15AC. The owner of the quarry was sympathetic to my desire to honor the H3's service and now there is a third 1187 working in Birdsboro.

Thanks, Eric, for commeorating the steam 1187's with the diesel 1187.

The 0-4-0 Camelback ran at Birdsboro as CF&I 4. It ran at Strasburg mostly as SRC 4.

I should add that when CF&I 4 arrived at Birdsboro, CF&I was operating 0-4-0T's 2 (Porter, 1920) and 3 (Cooke, 1910). Presumably, 1 was retired when 1187 arrived.

When the plant shut down, WK&S saved both tank engines; they still have 2 but the WK&S sold 3 to the Paterson Museum in its namesake city to represeny locomotives built in Paterson.
