I received word today that the LAKE TERRELL hasn't been given or sold to a scrapper - yet. Lakes Shore is trying to find a home for it before that becomes the only alternative.

Folks,
I have just heard that the Pullman sleeping car Palm Lane has arrived at the Illinois
Railway Museum. I believe it is a heavy wight car built in 1929. It was retired in 1956 to the Central New York Chapter, NRHS. It was displayed for many years at the New York State Fairgrounds.

Has it been mentioned in this series? What railroads did it travel on? Where did it go?

Ted Miles retired but still interested in trains

Looks like it "belonged" (assuming they actually made any lease payments) to IOU Pacific last: viewtopic.php?p=231856#p231856

Illinois Ry Museum has a page on its website about the arrival of the former PALM LANE at its museum site; included is a ownership history and future plans:

More Potential Survivors:

These cars all come from Herman Page's Pullman list of July 1999. None have been discussed before in this thread. The info is now 22 years old, but if anyone has info on if any of these cars are still extant today, either at the locations listed from back then or elsewhere, that would be most appreciated! (Same goes on if any scrapping dates are known for now-gone cars in the below listing.)

Madley (Lot #4845, Plan #3410, 1925, 12S-1DR, PRR)--sold to PRR #8863 (1948) to MofW #492989 (1962) located on Northern Central in New Freedom, PA (19??)

"Madley" was cut up in 2008. At the time it was sitting at Letterkenny Army Depot.

This week, the SMRS moved the Emerald Vale (along with some other cars) to the north end of the line. The car had been stored north of Lenawee Junction, Michigan since being donated by the State of Michigan in 1987!

Another Survivor:

492. Unknown to U.S. Army hospital/mortuary car, now owned by unknown party and stored in Boulder, CO

This car was reported on by Jacob Carey in the Surviving Passenger Cars group on Facebook a ways back.

Like several other surviving/potentially surviving ex-USAX conversions, the Pullman history for this additional example remains for now a mystery.

Additional Info:

This car was in the collection of the North Florida RY Museum before the sale to the AC&W. The museum's website still lists the car despite the sale to AC&W: http://www.nfrm.org/glen_ayr.htm and states that the car was donated by SBD to the NRHS North Florida Chapter in 1986.

There was some question last year in the Passenger Car List group on GroupsIO if the car was still at the museum. The most recent Google street view imagery shows the other equipment in the museum's collection, but the Glen Ayr isn't visible, so it would seem it has indeed left Jacksonville for NC.
This car was donated by the AC&W to the Pullman National Historic Park in 2023. (Likely as a result of AC&W acquiring another 6-3, the Glen Summit.)

One car that I excluded initially because I didn't have a current or near-current status was the:

Asheville (Lot #3848, Plan #2502, 1911, pvt. car, ex-Advance [1st])--sold to Algoma Central #552 Michipicoten (1944)

I know this car lasted for a long time on the ACR--see here: http://trainweb.org/algoma/proster.html

Does anyone know the current status of this car?

AC # 552 Michipicoten was gifted from the ACR/CN to the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency in December 2007 once it's ties to Pullman and Robert Todd Lincoln were established. Their goal is to cosmetically restore the car and display it next to the nicely rehabbed Illinois Central "Lincoln Depot" in Springfield, IL as part of the Lincoln Museum campus.

The car has been stored at Gateway Rail Services since it's donation, awaiting restoration. The car is very original inside, save for a few updated (I dare not say modern) system items - wood sash windows and the original dining room table marked "Advance".

Thanks, MRLX1020, for the info on ACR Michipicoten!

Now listed as line item No. 155:

155. Asheville (Lot #3848, Plan #2502, 1911, pvt. car, ex-Advance [1st])--sold to ACR #552 Michipicoten (1944) to Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (2007)
The Advance (1st) will now reportedly be part of the collection/displayed at the Pullman National Historic Park, instead of in Springfield as was initially reported in this thread a decade ago.

As was reported on this page a year ago, the Palm Lane is now at IRM, having been donated by Roger Kramer.

While searching for the car's current whereabouts, I found a reference to an STB document from 1975 pertaining to the car's ownership:

Description Page

PDF File

The document concerns a Security Agreement between the owners of said car, Crow-Woodbridge Enterprises, Inc. (Olympia, WA) and Midwest Rail Car Leasing, Inc. (University City, MO).

Does anybody know the disposition or current wherabouts of the Mt. Peale/Jo-Vi-La? Thanks in advance.

I have not been able to find any recent info on this car
First off, back in 2015 there was a thread over on Trainorders showing that this car as of several years before that was stored in Portland, OR, along with 2 others, both of which are also surviving Pullmans, the Plan #3974F Mission Santa Ynez (line item #103) and the former Kenova.

More recently, a photo was posted on RR Picture Archives showing that the former Mt. Peale is now stored in Chehalis, WA, as DLJX #354, and behind it is the former Kenova as DLJX #475: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=4960752 (J Fischer photo)

Finally, the "Private Passenger Car Annual" provided a little more info on the initial post-CGW ownership.

327. Mt. Peale (Lot #4998, Plan #3521A, 1926, 10S-lng-obs)--sold to CGW and rebuilt to business car #354 (1948) resold to Joseph V. Lamantia as #28 and named Jo-Vi-La (unknown date) resold to Edmund J. Boyce, Jr. as #28 (unknown date) resold to Crow-Woodbridge Enterprises, Inc. as #28/#800147, Olympia, WA (unknown date) resold to unknown party, Portland, OR (unknown date) resold to DLJX as #354, Chehalis, WA (unknown date)
These two cars are owned by Daryl J. Lund. And yes, it is reporting mark DLJX, as DJLX is a former David J. Joseph Co. reporting mark now belonging to CIT Financial.
