ATSF 2926 Approved To Operate On 40 Miles Of Mainline

NMHR has announced that 2926 has been approved by NMDOT to operate on 40 miles from Bernalillo to Los Lunas. This only applies to non-revenue deadhead moves for the time being

I believe this is the west end of the line that goes over Raton Pass, now owned by New Mexico, and mostly used by the Southwest Chief and possibly Railrunner commuter trains. So not quite the "main line" of BNSF (the Southern Transcon route through Texas), but a secondary main line nonetheless.

If I checked their site correctly, Albuquerque is at about the midpoint between Bernalillo and Los Lunas.

Indeed, that is the far west/south end of the Raton Pass route, before it connects to the Transcon at Belen, maybe two miles miles west/south of Los Lunas: https://www.bnsf.com/ship-with-bnsf/map ... ad_map.pdf
