Ex C&NW exec train, moved there shortly after merger. I don't know what's happened to them though.

I suspect that the photo is taken near Ogden, Utah. The Ogden Depot Museum had some equipment stored in a former military compound nearby. My understanding is that some of the equipment was up on former USA heavy-duty flat cars.

Nothing on the Odgen Depot website about much of its displayed collection and vitually nothing on the off-site items.

I believe that the Ogden Museum has the shell of a Bamberger Bullet car. The car in question doesn't appear to be it, but I understand that the bullet car is in the same general condition with no roof or windows.

That looks like one of the Utah-Idaho Central (I think?) interurban combines that was owned by the Ogden museum. I saw an issue of "Traction Models" I think it was from the late 1970's that showed two of these nice big arch-roof combines (bodies) being craned into some site in Utah; at the time they looked restorable, but I believe that they were later torched by vandals (it looks like that's what happened here). I'm surprised that this car is still around, but Ogden is rumored to have several junk electric cars in storage. Maybe Shay Stark can contribute more solid information.

As reported at the time, 2 A's were sold to the Canon City & Royal Gorge and pull their excrusion and dinner trains (in modified DRGW colors); the 3 B's went to St. Louis Car, where 2 of them operate with the 2 exMARC F9A's on their dinner train and the 3rd was used for parts; and one was sold to Pioneer Railcorp in Keokuck. 1 is still at Cheyenne.

The Interurban body shown in the picture is indeed a Utah, Idaho Central car. There are two UIC car bodies at the museum. These cars are significant in that they were run on the last train officially ending passenger service on the line. The numbers of the cars are 506 and 513.

After the UIC was abandon these two cars along with a trailer were purchased by a farmer and trucked to a field where they were used as storage sheds. Most of the interiors had been stripped and all of the underbody equipment had been removed before they were shipped out.

The cars sat in the field until the mid 1970Â’s when a gentleman in Ogden purchased the two motor car bodies and brought them back to Ogden in hopes of uncovering some of the street trackage and operating what would be the equivalent of a heritage line similar to what has been done in San Jose, California with a museum and then some operation on a City owned line. He also purchased the shell of a Bullet car and found the metal frame for the front and two sides of a UIC Birney. I also have been told that he had been given first option to purchase a couple of homes in Ogden Canyon that had Ogden Streetcar bodies imbedded in the structure. As with many good dreams the financial reality prevailed and the project went no further.

In the early 1990Â’s the City was trying to clear the property where the car bodies sat and offered them to the Utah State Railroad Museum but the cars had to be removed with in a couple of days. The cars had been greatly vandalized and the two UIC cars had suffered multiple fires from transients. The Museum moved the cars knowing that the chances were slim for preservation but there would be no chance if the cars were cut up on site. The cars are stored on a former Military base. For years they sat undisturbed as access was limited but the past several years the decommissioned base has been redeveloped into an industrial park and the museums equipment has sat exposed not only to the elements but also vandals. These cars have again been victims of vandalism and fire. The frames are warped and twisted beyond reasonable repair. Much of the equipment at this site has been deemed beyond reasonable repair or restoration and has been consigned to possible scrapping in the future. Several people from the Western Railroad Museum have come through Ogden and removed the useful parts off the cars. (This has been done by permission.) There are a small group of us who would love to see something positive happen with the cars but are focusing our efforts on another project that is just as worthy of the undertaking and use of limited resources which will have a far greater chance of a successful completion.

Before anyone thinks all is lost, I would add that there is one UIC carbody that was purchased by the StateÂ’s Department of Transportation and remodeled as a materials testing lab. That car has since been purchased by a private individual and was moved to his home. This car is currently being modified for use as part of a bed and breakfast. The owner has every intention to cosmetically restore the exterior of the car to look as it was in its last years of service.

I recall that some friends, also associated with Orange Empire, reported checking these cars back in the 1970s. They viewed the cars accomplied by the farmer. As I recall, the report was that the cars were without trucks, but had some of the cab/vestibule interior was intact. Specifically the report was that the flagging kit was seen still hanging inside one of the cars.
