Thanks for the link. It's ironic that the highest tech front end in the States is on one of the lowest tech locomotives. Hopefully the modifications will keep the cog burning coal for many years to come.

Glad you enjoyed the link. The Mt. Washington engines are a strange mixture of modern and ancient: all-welded boilers, 4 piston valve cylinders, but non-adjustable cut-off, no apparent insulation on any of the steam piping or cylinders, etc. I believe Nigel can accomplish a great deal there if he is given the chance.
