Anybody have an idea of the history of this car? I seems a bit far gone for a restoration, perhaps it would be a good source for parts on a similar car somewhere.

Where is this carbody located? There is a similar carbody in Mullan, ID attached to the side of a bar. I believe it is ex-NP.

Its located near Billings. Check the link below for a number of photo angles.

The local Historical Society in Billings, which maintains a museum next to the Airport, might be a good start. They have an NP steamer on display...perhaps they might be encouraged to initiate some preservation effort to restore the car, and place it on display with the locomotive.
