I have a friend who has a railroad drill press which could function except for the fact that a portion a reversing clutch is missing (broken off). It is approximately 7 feet high.

There are two manufacturers plates on the press:

1.) W.E. Shipley

Metalworking Machinery

Philadelphia, PA

2.) Cinncinati Machine Tool Company

Cinncinati, Ohio

There is a brass patent plate with the date of May 7, 1901 on the clutch mounting, but no patent number.

We really could use some assistance finding the patent number, since pre-76 patents are only searchable by patent number.

Thanks in advance for any info that will assist us in finding a way to get the info to remanufacture a new clutch.
