I thought Ohio Central quit running steam last season. Or was that announcement an attempt to boost lagging ticket sales?

Had not they announced this once or twice before? What gives?

They haven't stopped running steam. They've only stopped running regular trains out of Sugar Creek.

Not only are they still running steam, they are putting on the trainfest festival being held in July. With 1225, 6325, 1293 plus other steam & diesel locomotives and excursions, this will probably be the biggest steam event of the year if not the past several years.

Beautiful shots...but why did they put that bright yellow car behind the locomotive??? Wouldn't a traditional boxcar red car have looked better??

I have no problem with the yellow ACY insulated (?) boxcar right behind the Northern. During steam days, ANY kind of car could have been behind the tender. So variety is good. Here is what I DO have a problem with; GTW steam lasted until 1960. So if we are recreating a scene that COULD have been, then the cars behind the U3b should have been built in 1960 or earlier. Now I realize that getting a whole train of older cars might be difficult but at least the first four or five should be authentic if at all possible, and preferably with prototypical lettering. Would be nice if someone gave us a report on the train itself with details on each car. And if the ACY yellow boxcar was built in 1960 or before, then she certainly deserved to be in her honored spot.

BTW, I too think OC did another fantastic job. One of these days I hope my schedule gives me the time to make one of these special OC events.

> For the first time in over two weeks I have had a little time to view the web pages we all enjoy as railfans. May I add, Jason Johnson and ALL of the crew, of which there were over twenty duirng the winter frieght train, did a wonderful job.

It is with great joy that I announce that the OC crew, which in my book includes all of the employees and volunteers, are simply outstanding people. I am very excited to see what we can do as a team.

Further more.....Steam is alive, Jerry Joe Jacobson is committed to more steam and more trips. We hope to go "off line" (Run somewhere other than on our own RR) with-in the next two years and we are committed to restoring more steam. True, the Sugar Creek operation is not running, however, we are running so many other events and specials this year that it would be hard to do both.

Please see our web page at ocsteam.com. There is a link there for Train Festival 2004. This will be one of the hottest steam events of the year.

Again, to all of the OC Crew both volunteer and regular staff.....Good Job

By the way, I'll be home soon.......
