*I believe a fleet of these cars were in service at Knoebels Grove Amusement Park in Elysburg, Pa. (which also had a de-tanked 0-4-0T, a Cagney steam train, and a 1.5-mile diesel-hydraulic train ride). Kurt, are these things still at Knoebels?

Six Flags Darien Lake has a set up of these as well....I got a shot of them when i was there in the summer, although they are a newer version of the one shown in that link....They are the same principle, but are designed to look like a steam engine instead....
They also used to have a Chance 24"gage C.P. Huntington train around one of the lakes, but that was removed when Six Flags took over, and i don't know where it went....

The Hodge's hand cars were still at Knoebels as of the past year. Like you said they else have a de-tanked lokie along with some other on-rail mining equipment.

Of course the Crown Live Steam engine is there on the short loop as is the fleet of 6 MTC/Hershchell gas powered locomotives on a longer set up.

There's also a de-trucked streetcar (lineage unknown) and a operating steam tractor at the saw mill exhibit which also has a pair of disconnect narrow guage trucks with a REALLY BIG log mounted on them.

Midway Park had a bunch of cars like these. I used to ride them!! Last I knew they were still being used up there, along with about a 12" gauge train with three cars and a look alike F3, complete with a ford engine under the "hood". (different track, of course!) Midway is located on Chautauqua Lake in western New York. They also have a steam powered sternwheeler that still prowels the lake. She is called the "Chautauqua Belle"

Kiddie handcars identical to these once ran at the now-departed trolley amusement park, West View Park, just north of Pittsburgh.

I know a guy who has about two dozen of these cars, plus a couple hundred feet of track and some aluminum barricades. He loads it all into a trailer and travels around doing fairs and such. He has expressed an interest in divesting himself of this equipment; if anyone is seriously interested, feel free to e-mail me and I can get you in contact with him.

The car is Shamokin & Mount Carmel Transit #33, built by Brill in 1905. Below is a photo of it in service in 1934, from www.davesrailpix.com
