Since the November 5th brief we have scaffolds up and have started the process of removing aluminum siding from the front of the building. We have also had a few paint analysis samples run through Ball State University's historic preservation program. It seems that nearly any possible color scheme that might or could have been used for a NYC / B&O tower has been on it at one time or another! For now, we are likely to use the NYC style dark green and light gray green.

Has anyone out there used these colors on a structure and have any good references for them such as a current Sherwin Williams or similar paint code? We know a few depots have been repainted into these colors, but can't seem to locate the people who mixed up the paint.

As part of the siding removal we have found more questions to answer. While we were fairly certain the front two windows were replacements (see photo from brief), the removal of the siding is confirming this. We just don't really know what had been there in the past.

We still haven't been able to track down even one photo of this building taken prior to the aluminum siding. You'd think that someone would have taken a photo of it at some point, we just have to find it! If anyone has ideas on where I might come up with one, please let me know. Seems likely that the entire front was full of windows, but we don't have much to go on. When the bottom siding under these were removed, we did uncover another large original window.

We still hope to find some rod related hardware such as rollers and switch throws, but that part of the project is still to come.
