I believe that there is some confusion here. The classification lights are fused & switched and the number board lights are unswitched & unfused.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The 125,000-member United Transportation Union is pleased to introduce Robert Yarger as its new national legislative director. Robert brings with him a vast knowledge of the railroad industry and railroad labor, and has high goals for transforming the way industry operates. His leadership and initiative will help the UTU continue to improve the industry, following the universal success of remote control locomotives.. In particular, he recalls revitalization of a New England Mainline, “I worked for the Central Vermont, when it was sold to the shoreline conglomerate RailTex and operated as the New England Central. They stripped away onerous work rules and vastly increased production. This is a model that all US railroads should follow.” Robert also plans to introduce legislation that would make it easier for US railroads to utilize contract shops in the US, Mexico and even Asia for car and locomotive repair and remanufacturing, “It will be a great day for the industry when independent shops across the world can openly bid for work from US railroads.” In addition, Robert is also dedicated to railroad museums “They are like giant Lionel train sets.”
